Leapmotor has put a date and a sharp price on its next EV. The Leapmotor B10 arrives in November from $38,990 drive away for the Style, topping out at $41,990 drive away for the Design LR (Long Range).
Cheapest electric SUV on sale
That $38,990 drive-away figure slides in just under the BYD Atto 3 at $39,990 drive away, which makes the B10 the cheapest electric SUV you can buy in Australia. It is also a bigger car than the Atto, so buyers get more metal for less money. Leapmotor quotes up to 442km of range on the NEDC cycle for the Style and up to 516km for the Design LR.

This is the budget end of the EV market getting a serious new contender. For anyone who wants to go electric without cracking forty grand, the B10 rewrites the entry price, and it does it with a roomier body than the car it undercuts. The established Chinese names now have to answer.
AU Outlook
Expect the sub $40,000 electric SUV fight to sharpen through summer as rivals respond. If the B10 drives as well as it prices, November could reset the floor of the segment.
