Cervelo's new Soloist lands in Australia from around $8,500

The Soloist name is back for round two, and Bicycling Australia has now put the 2027 model through a full local review. Cervelo pitches it as an aero all rounder for serious amateurs, sitting below the flagship S5 on price while borrowing heavily from that bike's wind tunnel work.

What is new

The frame is 28 grams lighter than the outgoing model, the fork sheds another 16 grams, and Cervelo claims an 8.6 watt reduction in bike only drag. Tyre clearance grows from 34mm to 36mm, and every model gets the one piece HB18 carbon cockpit shared with the R5, saving 134 grams over the old two piece bar and stem.

Australian pricing

The base 2027 Soloist retails for around $8,500, a step up from the previous generation. The range topping SRAM Red AXS build reviewed by Bicycling Australia is priced at $11,000, or $5,900 for a frameset alone. That top build weighs a claimed 6.85kg.

What it means for buyers

This is a genuine step up in spec and aero performance, but the price rise pushes the base Soloist close to entry level S5 territory. Riders who spend a lot of time climbing should cross shop the lighter R5 before committing, and it is worth comparing the Soloist against similarly priced aero road bikes from Giant, Trek and Specialized on BikeFinder before deciding.
