Giant's new Stance E+ is a cheaper way into a full suspension e-MTB

Giant has released a redesigned Stance E+, its value-focused electric trail bike, alongside a near identical sibling from its Liv brand called the Embolden E+. Both are now listed at Australian retailers, with the Stance E+ 1 available through De Grandi Cycle Works in Geelong at $7,499.

More travel, slacker geometry

The new Stance E+ gets 140mm of rear travel and a 150mm fork, up from 125mm and 140mm on the previous generation. Giant has also slackened the head angle a full degree to 64.5 degrees and steepened the seat tube to 76.5 degrees, changes aimed at making the bike more composed on descents without hurting climbing position. It still runs 29 inch wheels front and rear on an aluminium frame, and Giant is using its own FlexPoint linkage design rather than a pivot at the rear axle.

New motor, swappable batteries

Power comes from Giant's SyncDrive Pro 3X motor, built with Yamaha, putting out up to 800 watts peak and 100Nm of torque on the Stance E+ 0 and E+ 1 models, with a lighter SyncDrive Sport3 unit on the entry E+ 2. The removable, lockable battery comes in 800Wh or 625Wh sizes depending on model, and riders can add a clip-on range extender for longer days. A 1.5 inch RideControl Dash 2 display and companion app let riders tune power delivery and track ride data. Giant's international pricing guide lists the top spec Stance E+ 0 at $8,999 in Australia.
