Liv's 2026 Tempt E+ lands in Australia with a stronger motor and a bike you can lock from your phone
Liv has rolled its updated Tempt E+ into Australian dealers, and the changes go well past a new paint job. This is the women's specific electric hardtail in Liv's off road range, and the 2026 version gets a new motor, a new battery, a new display and, for the first time on this model, the ability to lock and find the bike from a phone.
More torque, less battery weight
The motor is the SyncDrive Sport 2, built by Yamaha and rated at 75Nm of torque, up on the previous generation. It runs off a removable EnergyPak Smart 430Wh battery that Liv says is lighter and more compact than the pack it replaces, which matters on a hardtail where a nose heavy feel is easy to notice. If 430Wh is not enough for your local loops, the frame takes Giant's EnergyPak Plus 200 range extender for another 200Wh.
Control moves to the new RideControl Dash 2, a single unit that combines the assist buttons with a full colour LCD screen, so speed, battery and assist mode all sit in one place on the bar. Paired with the RideControl app, riders can lock the bike remotely and locate it later, which is the feature most likely to matter to anyone who leaves an e-bike outside a cafe or at a trailhead car park.
Two builds, two jobs
The standard Tempt E+ is the trail focused one: SR Suntour XCM 32 coil fork with 100mm of travel, Maxxis Rekon 2.4 inch tyres, Shimano Cues 9 speed shifting with an 11 to 41T cassette, and Shimano MT200 hydraulic discs on 180mm rotors. It comes in sizes XS through L in Lunar Eclipse or Seafoam Green, at $4,499 RRP.
The Tempt E+ EX is the same bike set up for everyday use. It adds a Giant Rack-It MIK rear carrier, aluminium fenders, a KSA40 direct mount kickstand and lights wired into the main battery (a Giant Recon E HL50 up front, an Axa BlueLine rear). That one is $4,799 RRP in Sandshell, also XS to L. Both are already discounted at some retailers: Ivanhoe Cycles in Melbourne currently lists them at $4,299 and $4,499 respectively, with some sizes and colours sold out.
What it means for buyers
At $4,499 to $4,799 the Tempt E+ sits in a crowded part of the market, so the things worth weighing are the ones that differ between bikes rather than the headline motor number. Here that is a genuinely useful 430Wh removable battery with a range extender option, and built in security that most rivals at this price still charge extra for or do not offer at all. If you want the same bike for commuting rather than trails, the EX saves you buying a rack, fenders, lights and a kickstand separately, which is close to the $300 difference on its own.
