National Ride2Work Day set for October 14, with free bike checks and coffee on offer

Bicycle Network has locked in the details for National Ride2Work Day 2026, set for Wednesday 14 October, and is now taking registrations from both individual riders and workplaces wanting to host their own event.

What is on offer

In Melbourne, activations run at City Square near Town Hall Station from 7.30am to 2pm, and at South Melbourne Market from 6.30am to 9.30am, where riders can get free bike engraving, a free bike service, and coffee and breakfast. Tasmania gets two activations of its own, including one at The Shed at the University of Tasmania's Cimitiere Street campus from 7.30am to 9am. Registration is free, and workplaces can sign up to host their own local event with support and resources from Bicycle Network.

Why it matters beyond one day

Ride2Work Day is Bicycle Network's annual push to get more commuters riding, and the free servicing and engraving on offer is a genuinely useful excuse to get a neglected bike or e-bike checked over before spring riding picks up. It is also one of the few days a year when new commuters can turn up, get basic maintenance done for free, and ride alongside people who do this daily without any pressure to be fast or experienced.
