Winspace G3 gravel bike reviewed: carbon, 8kg and a try before you buy rental scheme

Bicycling Australia has published a review of the Winspace G3, a lightweight carbon gravel bike from Chinese brand Winspace. Reviewer Peter Maniaty described it as fast, agile and assured on firmer surfaces, and said it suits experienced road riders moving into gravel. He concluded: "Seriously, I loved it."

Frame and build

The review says the frame uses Toray T700, T800 and M40 carbon, with a 145mm head tube, 70.5 degree head angle, 568mm stack and clearance for tyres up to 50mm. The test bike weighed about 8kg in a medium. It was fitted with a SRAM Force E1 XPLR AXS 1x13 groupset, Lun Gryper D35 carbon wheels (1,290g), 45mm Pirelli Cinturato Gravel tyres and a one piece carbon gravel bar. The maximum system weight is 120kg. The reviewer noted the bike can float on loose, high speed descents.

Australian pricing and the rental scheme

Bicycling Australia lists builds from $7,990, the review build at $9,590 RRP, and the frameset alone at $3,490. Buyers can choose groupset, wheelset and cockpit. A rental scheme lets you hire the bike for a weekend, a week or a month, and if you buy, the rental fees you have paid are deducted from a new build. Carbon frames carry a lifetime warranty and wheelsets two years. The review does not name an Australian seller or give rental prices or terms, so check these with Winspace directly before ordering.

What it means for buyers

A hire then buy option removes some of the risk of buying a premium carbon gravel bike unseen, which matters with brands that do not have a shop on every corner. If you are cross-shopping gravel bikes at this price, compare geometry, tyre clearance, weight and warranty against the established brands on BikeFinder.
